Terms and Conditions

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Draft, not yet legally reviewed. This page is a structural starting point and has not been reviewed by qualified legal counsel. It should not be relied on as a finished or compliant policy until that review happens -- particularly given the health information this platform handles.

1. Acceptance of these terms

These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Fola platform (“Fola”, “we”, “us”), including our website, dashboard, and any associated mobile or web applications (together, the “Service”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. What Fola is

Fola is a practice-management and patient-communication platform used by healthcare clinics and their patients to book and manage appointments, exchange secure messages, record and view prescriptions and medical records, and handle billing. Access is provided either directly by a clinic (an invite from clinic staff or an admin-issued account) or, where a clinic makes it available, through self-registration linked to that clinic.

Fola is not a source of medical advice and is not a substitute for professional clinical judgment. Content you see in the Service (appointment notes, prescriptions, messages) reflects what your clinic and care team have entered or communicated directly with you -- Fola does not generate, verify, or endorse any clinical content. If you are experiencing a medical emergency, contact your local emergency services immediately; do not rely on this Service.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Clinical staff and administrator accounts are provisioned or invited by a clinic; patient accounts may be created by clinic staff on your behalf or, where enabled, through self-registration.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the Service -- including attempting to access another person's health records or account without authorization, uploading unlawful or harmful content, or interfering with the Service's normal operation.

5. Payments and subscriptions

Clinic subscriptions and any patient billing handled through the Service are processed by our payment provider, Stripe. Fola does not itself store full payment card details. Fees, billing cycles, and cancellation terms are as presented at the time of purchase or as agreed with your clinic.

6. Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the Service for a user or a clinic that violates these Terms. A clinic or patient may stop using the Service at any time; this does not by itself delete data that must be retained for legal, regulatory, or clinical record-keeping purposes -- see our Privacy Policy.

7. Limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Fola is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the Service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

9. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.

10. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be directed to your clinic administrator or to Fola directly.
